The 2011 Honda Odyssey Absolute K24A 4WD (RB4 chassis code) is the final performance-tier refresh of the fourth-generation JDM sports wagon platform. While the front-wheel-drive variant uses a CVT, the 4WD Absolute is specifically engineered with a heavy-duty 5-speed automatic gearbox and Honda's Real-Time four-wheel-drive system, making it a highly versatile all-weather family cruiser.

Engine & Drivetrain Specifications

The 4WD Absolute utilizes a high-compression, naturally aspirated power plant tuned specifically to handle the extra mechanical drag of an all-wheel-drive system.

  • Engine: 2.4-litre K24A DOHC i-VTEC high-output 4-cylinder petrol engine.
  • Power Output: 190 hp (140 kW) at 7,000 RPM and 228 Nm of torque at 4,300 RPM. (Note: Power is detuned from the FWD's 206 hp to safeguard the rear differential and transfer case).
  • Transmission: 5-speed torque-converter automatic transmission with paddle shifters (replacing the standard FWD models' CVT).
  • Drivetrain: Real-Time 4WD system that automatically routes power to the rear wheels via a dual-pump system when front wheel slip is detected.
  • Fuel Grade: Premium unleaded petrol is required to support the high-compression engine head without timing retardation.

Absolute 4WD Factory Characteristics

The 2011 model year features subtle mid-cycle revisions while retaining the trademark low-profile geometry of the Absolute line:

  • Ride Height & Clearance: Measures just 1,565 mm tall—slightly taller than the FWD variant to allow for rear driveshaft clearance, but still low enough to fit standard automated parking garages.

  • Suspension Geometry: Standard double-wishbone suspension tuned firmly by Honda engineers to control the extra weight of the rear differential during spirited cornering.
  • Interior Layout: Offers a premium 3-row, 7-seat configuration with black half-leather sports seats, a 3D blue-illuminated gauge cluster, and a 60/40 electric-folding third row.
